A patron is not a customer and member equity is not retained earnings. A cooperative allocates margin to patrons by pool and by fiscal year, notifies them, pays part in cash and retains the rest as equity, then revolves that equity years later on a plan the board sets and changes. NetSuite has no member equity record and no allocation engine, so the register lives in a workbook beside the general ledger, reconciled once a year and understood by one person.
