Cost codes as real segments, commitments that hold, change orders that propagate, and a WIP schedule your surety will accept. Ask and we will walk you through the construction deck.
NetSuite projects were built for professional services. A contractor needs cost code, cost type and phase as first-class dimensions on every transaction; a subcontract that behaves differently from a purchase order; retainage on both sides of the job; and a change order that moves budget, commitment and billing together instead of separately. What happens instead is a workbook. Budget in one tab, committed cost in another, a WIP schedule assembled by hand at each period end, and an over/under billing figure that nobody can trace back to a transaction when the surety asks.
General contractors, specialty trades and heavy-civil contractors on or moving to NetSuite. Jobs long enough that percentage-of-completion and over/under billing actually matter. Subcontracts, two-sided retainage, and change orders that outnumber the original contract lines. More than one legal entity on a job, a surety who asks for the WIP, or prevailing-wage and union work.
Bring the budget in from whatever you estimate with. We do not price the work.
No CPM, no Gantt, no critical path. Field time posts to cost codes; it does not drive a schedule.
Project management platforms do this well. We are the accounting.
Prevailing-wage and union fringe rules are jurisdiction-specific and unbounded. The states and agreements in scope are listed in the order, and additional ones are priced separately.
Send us the line item you want to replace: the vendor, the annual number and what it is priced on. We will tell you plainly whether we can replace it, and quote it in two lines: the license, and any services you choose to add.
